An open letter
Aug. 11th, 2019 09:46 pm An open letter to
funkycanuck (if you saw my comment on your journal, feel free to disregard it. I figured this was a better idea since commenting to you from an account I made like two days before is sketchy, isn't it? Plus I feel more free on here and I saw somebody mentioning you on here. So, why not me as well?) [update: you won't see it so I'll have to comment again. I hope that's okay. Sorry for the confusion]
I hope this letter finds you well and I hope you will see it. I saw that your last entry was in 2018. I'm glad that you're still active (or was active back then and I, as I said, sincerely hope you still are). If not, this might sound a bit ironic. In that case, I'm sorry.
Basically the essence of my comment was that I absolutely loved Birth of Humanity. As I mentioned in multiple (or just one? I talked more about this specifically on Tumblr, although I did that mainly in vague reblogs) comments here, I'm amazed by both how you basically wrote an enrite novel on two characters with basically zero canonical backstory (one of which literally had like five minutes of screentime in total and is sadly almost completely forgotten by the fanbase. I'm talking about Goldie because of course I do) just because you loved them and wanted to explore them. I aspire to have this level of dedication!
The other thing I keep talking about from your fanfic (or rather, novel?) is... Iason. I don't know but, if you decide to look around here, you'll notice how much I talked about him (and again, I talked about him on tumblr too). I love everything about him! He's subversive, has extra fashion choices which fit his personality (since he is so very extra), he's a serious (extra emphasis on the word serious) openly GNC gay villain and basically, pure awesomeness and danger. Not to mention his faceclaim is handsome as FUCK. I wonder who he is. Both me and my boyfriend talk about him (Iason, not the faceclaim!) frequently and even roleplay with him (in private, of course. I hope that's okay).
Another character who I enjoyed from the work (who is basically your second main character from there) is Vashta. I could really ramble about how I see his character and why I love him so much, but that would take so much more of this already rambley letter. To bring up my boyfriend again, he was absolutely smitten by him. In a good way. I mean, he's literally the ideal man. I have so, so many thoughts about him.
And one more thing, about which I also talked about on here. It's how you weren't afraid to use the most sexual terms for kid Iason. "walking sex"? "not afraid to use his body"? "male nymphomaniac"? Who would have the courage to talk like this about little boys today? Sadly, fandom has taken a pretty awful turn these days. You might have witnessed it for yourself. Moral crusaders are everywhere and people are celebrating censorship. Pretty shitty if you ask me! If you are not participating in fandoms, good for you.
I wasn't able to be here for the old fandom and I'm very sad about it. Basically, I'm a hatchling compared to you. I only got around to read your fanfic in 2017. Speaking of, I'm glad the site wasn't shut down. Even now I have the tab with it open on my phone. It's the last chapter. I just refreshed it. :D
Now speaking of the site, I admire all the dedication you put into it! About which I also talked on tumblr. :p
Anyway, to cut this short, you're simply amazing and so dedicated! I read that you write original fiction and was published. I'd be so curious to read your books. Basically I'd like to read all of your stories.
I hope you have an amazing time of day right now. Thank you for writing that fanfic, it really meant a lot to me (and still does)
PS. as I said in the original comment, Birth of Humanity was the thing that brought me deeper into Mad Max for the first time and was the thing that brought me into it for the second time (which is happening right now)

So like, I love it how uhh... idk, how sometimes bands find their niches, like oh, our lead singer is an exceptionally beautiful androgynous dude? What if we made it our Thing (tm), huh? You call that embarrassing, we call that "look who's on the top of the charts again". Look at our next promotional posters, our lead singer is posing seductively on them. Lip gloss

(every link leads to a gif image, so be aware of that. Also the first "evil" link and the second "sexy" link contains some gore, so be aware of that as well)

I thought blondie from Mad Max 2 was unique in his blonde gay twinkiness, but...
Why did nobody tell me about the 1971 film Death in Venice and the book it was based on?
Basically it's

Okay so the book in question is Death in Venice and holy shit
Whoever cast Bjorn Andersen on that role knew what they were doing
A whole lot of pictures under cut
( bloop )
So yeah, boys are eternal and sacred. Plus they at least cast a teenager to play a, well, teenager (he was 15-16 when the movie was filmed)
